Polaris Lawyers Is Now a Certified B Corporation (B Corp)
At Polaris, we’ve always believed being a good law firm means more than delivering great legal results.
It means treating people with compassion when they need it most. Supporting our team to thrive. Giving back to our community. Taking responsibility for the impact we have. And never standing still when there’s an opportunity to do better.
That’s why we’re incredibly proud to share that Polaris Lawyers is now a Certified B Corporation (B Corp).
What is a B-Corp?
Certified B Corporations™, or B Corps™, are companies verified as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
As a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together for change, and taking part in collective action to advocate for a shared goal of a global economy that benefits people and the planet.
After a 16-month certification journey, we’ve joined a global community of businesses using business as a force for good.
Why Polaris became a B-Corp
For us, this certification is a promise to keep doing better.
For several years, becoming a Certified B Corporation had been an aspiration for Polaris.
We knew we were building a different kind of law firm—one that puts people at the centre of every decision. We also knew there was value in having that commitment measured against an independent, globally recognised standard.
As our Human Resources Manager Holly McGoldrick explains:
“Becoming B Corp certified is a significant milestone for Polaris. It highlights both the amazing work our teams are already doing, and our commitment to improving and doing better.”
“We’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together to advocate for a global economy that benefits both people and the planet.”
A journey that challenged us to grow
Our certification process began in February 2025 and finished in June 2026.
Like any worthwhile challenge, it wasn’t always easy.
The process involved taking a close look at every part of our business—from our governance and workplace culture to our environmental impact and our work with the community.
Along the way, we celebrated the things we were already doing well. But we also uncovered opportunities to improve.
That’s one of the things we value most about becoming a B Corp. It doesn’t reward perfection—it encourages progress.
Small actions, large change
One area we identified was our recycling and waste management.
As part of the certification process, we strengthened our recycling systems by introducing dedicated collection for hazardous e-waste and hardware and by improving the way we recycle paper, cardboard, and commingled waste.
What we’re especially proud of is that those changes didn’t stop with us.
After we shared our approach with Clarence Chambers, similar recycling practices were introduced across their Lonsdale Street and Bourke Street offices.
As Holly puts it: “This is a true reflection of small meaningful actions having a larger impact.”
What it means to our team
While we’re incredibly proud of the certification itself, we’re even prouder of what it represents.
B Corp reflects the culture we’ve worked hard to build—a workplace where compassion, accountability and ongoing improvement are part of everyday life.
When we asked members of our team what becoming a Certified B Corporation meant to them, their responses showed us why this process was worthwhile.
“I feel proud to be part of a firm that intentionally chooses to be better for our clients, our staff, and our community.”
“It recognises striving for excellence in and out of the office.”
“Striving every day to be better and creating a supportive environment to produce the best outcomes for our clients.”
“As an employee, it means that we get to work at an organisation which has a social conscience and puts the needs of others and the environment into every decision we make. This is reflected in how welcoming and comfortable everyone feels at the firm. At the end of my workday, I always feel satisfied with my work as I know it aligns with my ethics, which is rare in this industry.”
Those comments make us just as proud as the certification itself.
This is just the beginning
For Holly, becoming a Certified B Corporation isn’t the end of the story. It’s the start of a new chapter.
“We don’t see this certification as the success story yet. We see it as the first chapter of what we hope will be a long and meaningful partnership with the B Corp movement.”
Looking back on the achievement, Holly says she’s proud to be part of a business that is prepared to challenge itself.
"I’m proud to be part of a business that is committed to continuous improvement and isn’t afraid to recognise we don’t have it all worked out, but is brave enough to hold itself accountable and strive for excellence. Becoming a Certified B Corporation reinforces the incredible work happening every day at Polaris—from the dedication of our leadership to the passion and commitment of our teams. It has taken all of us to reach this milestone, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of that.”
We’re incredibly proud of what this certification represents—not because it says we’ve reached the finish line, but because it reflects the kind of business we’re striving to be.
We’ll keep learning.
We’ll keep improving.
And we’ll keep doing everything we can to create a positive impact on our clients, our people, our community, and the planet.
